Doug is someone deeply immersed both in the process of his art and in that his own being. His images reveal the innate nature of painting, and his works an exploratory process. One senses that his process is essentially an archeological one that is at the same time informed by psyche. Doug's unique use of calligraphic strokes produces flowing poetic watercolours that portray the mood of the painting.
Doug is a structural romantic, immersed in the obsession with the essential nature of each medium employed, but at the same time refusing to acknowledge a separation between his life and his art, or between science and psychology, or between painting and poetry. He has attempted to create an all-embracing, ultimate work that must at the same time remain forever emergent, never finally formed.
Doug has successfully presented his art in several shows. Many of Doug's paintings are in numerous corporate and private collections.
